Mosquitoes spread the virus, usually at dawn or dusk. They breed in standing water, like rice paddies. You can only catch it from mosquito bites in risk areas, not from other people.
Most cases are mild or have no symptoms. Rarely, it causes severe brain issues like high fever, headaches, a stiff neck, or seizures. If you have these symptoms after traveling, get emergency help right away.

Ixiaro is suitable for anyone 2 months and older. You’ll usually need two doses about a month apart, but we can use a faster schedule if you are traveling soon. Please let your pharmacist know if you have any known allergies before your appointment.
You might notice some soreness, redness, or swelling where you got the shot. Some people also feel a bit tired, get a headache, or have a mild fever afterward. Serious reactions are very rare, and we will explain exactly what to look out for before you head home.

It depends on what you plan to do. A beach resort stay carries much lower risk than cycling through rice paddies or staying in rural guesthouses. Your pharmacist will assess your specific itinerary and give you a clear recommendation.
Regular schedule – at least 5 weeks before departure – 2 doses 28 days apart – completed at least 1 week prior to travel. If time is limited, a fast-track Day 0 and Day 7 schedule may be available; your pharmacist will advise on suitability.
Yup. There is a rapid schedule available for Day 0 and Day 7 if the standard course is not possible due to lack of time. This schedule is off-limits for patients under 18 and over 65; your pharmacist will explain this in full and confirm if it is appropriate before proceeding.
A first booster dose is recommended 12 months after the primary series for persons with continued or repeated exposure risk. Adults aged 18–64 years who continue to travel to at-risk regions may be advised to receive a further booster at 10 years. Your pharmacist will decide, depending on your age and where you are going.
Yes. Ixiaro is licensed for use from 2 months of age. Infants 2 months to less than 3 years, 0.25 mL reduced dose The usual adult dose is given for children 3 years and older. The pharmacist will confirm the right dose at your consultation.
